Journey Garden is a safe space for tracking your personal growth during life transitions. These terms are here to protect both you and us, but written in plain language because nobody likes confusing legal jargon. 💕

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Journey Garden ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree with any part of these terms, please don't use the service.

These terms apply to all users, whether you're using the free tier or any future paid features.

2. What Journey Garden Is

Journey Garden is a personal tracking tool designed to help you during life transitions (gap years, unemployment, career changes, etc.). We provide:

  • 📅 Daily check-in system (mood, activities, achievements)
  • 📝 Private journaling space
  • 📊 Visual progress tracking (heatmap calendar)
  • 💰 Spending and budget tracking
  • 🏅 Achievement badges and streaks

3. What Journey Garden Is NOT

⚠️ Journey Garden is NOT a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, financial counseling, or career coaching.

  • We are a self-care tracking tool, not therapists
  • We provide tracking features, not medical diagnosis
  • We offer budgeting tools, not financial advice

4. Your Account Responsibilities

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Be at least 13 years old (or have parental consent)
  • Not share your account with others
  • Notify us immediately if your account is compromised

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

5. Acceptable Use

Journey Garden is for personal use only. You agree NOT to:

  • ❌ Use the service for illegal activities
  • ❌ Attempt to hack, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service
  • ❌ Upload malicious code or viruses
  • ❌ Impersonate others or create fake accounts
  • ❌ Use the service to harm yourself or others
  • ❌ Resell or commercialize the service without permission

6. Your Content and Data

6.1 You Own Your Data

All journal entries, mood data, and personal content you create remains yours. We never claim ownership of your personal data.

6.2 Limited License

You grant us a limited license to store and display your data back to you through the service. This license ends when you delete your account.

6.3 Data Export & Deletion

You can export your data at any time in JSON format. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Free Service & Future Pricing

Journey Garden is currently free to use. As we grow, we may introduce paid features or change our pricing model. If we do:

  • Your existing data will always remain accessible - You can export or delete anytime
  • 30 days advance notice - We'll notify you before any pricing changes
  • Data portability guaranteed - You can export all your data before deciding
  • Existing users consideration - Early users may receive special pricing or grandfathered access
  • All prices will be in Australian Dollars (AUD) including GST

Our commitment: We will never hold your data hostage. Even if we introduce paid plans, you'll always be able to access and export your journey data.

8. Service Availability

We strive for 99.9% uptime, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance (with advance notice)
  • Experience unexpected downtime (we'll fix it ASAP!)
  • Update features and fix bugs regularly

We recommend backing up important journal entries regularly.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Australian law:

  • Journey Garden is provided "as is" without warranties
  • We're not liable for indirect damages or data loss
  • Our total liability is limited to AUD $100 or the amount you paid (whichever is greater)
  • This doesn't limit liability for death, personal injury, or fraud

10. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is incredibly important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.

TL;DR: We never sell your data, we use minimal third-party services, and your journey data stays private to you.

11. Termination

11.1 You Can Leave Anytime

You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

11.2 We Can Terminate Accounts

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice when possible. We'll provide data export before termination unless prohibited by law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes:

  • We'll notify you via email or in-app notification
  • Changes take effect 30 days after notification
  • Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms
  • You can delete your account if you disagree with changes

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia (specifically New South Wales). Any disputes will be handled in Australian courts.

14. Intellectual Property

Journey Garden's design, code, logo, and branding are owned by Sparksverse Pty Ltd. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our code or assets without permission.

Exception: Your personal data and content remain yours to export and use as you wish.
